“Autonomy and a client-lead approach is foundation to the relational work that we do together. I believe self-government, empowerment and agency is at the belly of this person-centred, client-lead facilitation, therefore sessions are paced and tailored to your needs”.
A Wellbeing Consultation gives you the opportunity to access multiple Yoga Therapy Wellbeing tools and the ancient wisdom of the Ayurvedic tradition. Together we explore ways to support your health and Wellbeing goals, reduce any symptoms of dietary intolerance and allergies.
Autonomy and a client-lead approach is foundation to the relational work that we do together. I believe self-government, empowerment and agency is at the belly of this person-centred, client-lead facilitation, therefore sessions are paced and tailored to your needs.
Ayurveda is woven into the sessions together. What is Ayurveda? (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). The sister science of yoga, Ayurveda is a 4,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India, it is a science of life which reminds us that health is the balanced and dynamic integration between our environment, body, mind, and spirit. Ayurveda is for ALL, regardless of gender, age, race or religion. Below is a list of just some of the conditions a Wellbeing Consultation can support;
Stress, Fatigue & Burnout, Back Problems, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, Menstrual, Menopausal, Fertility, Digestive Disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome – IBS, Asthma, Lethargy, Sciatica, M.E & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Weight Loss, Self Esteem & Low Confidence and Emotional Issues.
What to expect
Sessions are client-lead, therefore, we move at a pace that suits you to encourage a safe, nurturing and welcoming experience whether online or in-person. Each session is tailored to YOU, making your experience unique. Whether you want to learn the basics of yoga or are interested in the healing benefits of practice, there is something for all to feel nourished by. You will be asked about your medical history, general health, lifestyle and well-being. This is the most important part of building your therapy plan, please know that your disclosure is welcomed but not forced and that you can have confidence that anything mentioned is treated professionally and respectfully and kept confidential and secure.
You will arrive to a welcoming space; we’ll settle in with a chat as we go through your consultation form together. From this initial consultation the session will be tailored to your needs. Yogic remedies and techniques to guide, NURTURE and RESTORE will be shared with you throughout the session. There is not a ‘one-fix-all’ approach to healing so with this in mind the focus is to meet you and your needs, respect boundaries and listen with an open heart to personalise your experience.
Diet and lifestyle advice is interwoven into your feedback after an in-depth consultation to help cultivate optimum VITALITY and well-being.
Do I need to stop medications and doctor visits?
Clients are encouraged to work alongside their medication and GP, it is not advised to suddenly stop taking medication without the help and guidance of your doctor. The yoga practices shared can antidote, support and balance any side effects of the drugs you may be already taking and lower the amount of medication you take over time, via your doctors’ guidance.
Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda empowers you to take control of your own healing, to spot the signs of a relapse before it happens and replace the need to reach for a higher dose of medication with an alternative approach. Yoga Therapy has many approaches to easing the symptoms of many illnesses through practices of mindfulness, meditation, diet, affirmations, pranayama and asana practice as well as lifestyle advice to encourage each person’s journey of self-discovery and healing.
What is the difference between a Yoga class and a Wellbeing Consultation?
A Wellbeing Consultation gives an individual a chance to discover their potential. To free themselves of mental, emotional and physical obstacles and challenges and the Therapist the opportunity to fully utilise the tools of yoga to help the individual with any suffering they may have.
Unlike in a yoga class where the teacher has many bodies to look after, in a Wellbeing Consultation the structure is tailored, the healing sequence is unique and personalised to that person. A person with injury or illness will get much more from a 1:1 Wellbeing session than that of a group class as the session with a Yoga Therapist is synchronised to that ‘body’ in particular.
How many sessions will I need?
After your first initial 60 minute consultation you will immediately be given techniques and guidance to start you off on your journey of healing.
For a full and in-depth dive into your Wellbeing experience a follow up session or two is highly recommended. Follow up sessions give the opportunity to measure progression and to make adaptations to the plan where necessary.
